Honeymoon in Maui, the second largest of the Hawaiian islands. Maui brings
before you a landscape abundant with natural beauty. It is probably the only
Hawaiian island to be named after a Polynesian demigod, Maui. Combined,
beaches, mountains, streams, valleys make Maui almost a heavenly
destination. Considered one of the world's most picturesque islands, Maui is
just the right place for your honeymoon not only because of its natural
beauty but also because of ancillary pluses like adventure sports, shopping,
nightclubs and festivals.Being a tropical island, Maui enjoys a mild temperature throughout the year. Temperature remains almost the same throughout the year. The coldest months are December and January with temperature ranging between 18- 27 °C while July to October are the the hottest month with temperature soaring as high as 31° C. Maui is worth visiting throughout the year depending upon what you want to enjoy. Beaches - The island has long sandy (white, gold, black, salt and pepper green or garnet because of the volcanic activity) stretch of beaches that are a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the shinning sun. Out of numerous beaches, you just need to pick up th beach that you think suits your style and taste. If you are interested in swimming, then you must visit the beaches that extend from Ma'alaea to Ka'anapali ( almost 3 miles of sandy beach), Kapalua ( considered most safe for swimming) and Napili (also good for snorkelling). However, if adventure sports is your choice, then you can go for Ho'okipa (or "hospitality") Beach which is located in North Maui. Here, on this beach you can enjoy windsurfing, boogie boarding, surfing, swimming, kite surfing, sunbathing or just walking. What is most important for you while enjoying on these beaches is to take ample care and precautions as many of these do not have guards to protect you if you fall in trouble.
Lahaina - The erstwhile capital of Hawaiian kingdom, Lahaina is an
important place both in terms of providing a glimpse into the history and
culture of Maui as well as providing entertainment and fun to the visitors.
A major portion of the town has been categorised as a place of historic
importance and consists of historic landmarks. Also there are numerous place
for you to eat and shop around. Lahaina also has a harbour from where you
can enjoy a travel on a pleasure boat ( which will take you to cruises where
you can have a sunset dinner),watch whales or set on a trip to nearby
islands. Numerous nightclubs and bars are spread throughout the place.Iao Valley - Iao valley is centrally located in the island of Maui and draws innumerable tourist throughout the year because of its exotic and mindblowing natural beauty. The valley is around 10 miles long and houses a state park, county park, a museum and a nature centre. The most prominent feature of the valley is the 'Iao Needle' which though resembles a tower in appearance is in fact a ridge. You can enjoy a walk to the top of this ridge and view the surroundings. The county park will unravel before you the culture and history of Maui whereas the Nature park will provide you an opportunity to learn more about the natural surrounding of Maui. Enjoy a drive down Hana highway - Hana highway is not a highway in usual sense, rather it is treat to the eyes. Commencing a little distance from the Kahului airport, the highway boasts of more than 600 turns and almost 50 bridges. Enroute, the view is enchanting with high mountains, streams, verdant valleys and steep cliffs. In between your drive, you can stop and enjoy bathing in one of the streams or simply adore the beauty of nature around like that of Twin Falls. The Ho`okipa Beach Park also lies on the way and so does numerous restuarants, boutiques and shops. A drive down the Hana highway is definitely going to be a high point of your honeymoon. Enjoy Adventure sports - Plenty of adventure options present themselves before you so as to make your honeymoon special. Snorkel the deep ocean, surf in the powerful breaks, climb the high mountains, swim the river, stream and ocean water, trek along some exciting route and cycle around the beautiful valley. Apart from these you can also enjoy cruising, Hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, parasailing, rafting, scuba diving sportfishing, camping and a trip on a helicopter and numerous other adventure activities as per your choice. For more sophisticated of you golf (though it is not an adventure activity)is an exciting outdoor activity.

because of its lively nightlife. Dance bars, nightclubs and restuarants are
abundant where you can spend your night singing and dancing either to loud
or more subtle and melodious music. You can also enjoy the native Hawaiian
music in many of these places. Special nightlife attractions include sunset
dining on a cruise and swimming in the night.Enjoy shopping - If you are a shopaholic, Maui is just the right place for you. Numerous shopping areas and centres offer product that range from art and craft, speciality products, gifts, food , antiques, fashion, and perfumes. Almost entire Maui has shops where you can buy things you want, however some of the most important of these areas are central Maui, Maui Mall, Lahaina Cannery Mall and Honokowai Marketplace. These are just a few place and not necessarily the only destinations where you can shop. Enjoy watching whales - This opportunity is available to you only if you visit Maui during the months of starting from December to March. These whales travel extensively right from the Alaskan coastline to the Hawaiian oceans in order to give birth to their young ones in the warmth of tropical island ocean water. Watching these whales is a one time opportunity therfore make sure that you do not miss it on your honeymoon. Events and Festivals - Events and festivals are the highpoint of Maui. Your period of visit notwithstanding, Maui will offer you an opportunity to participate in atleast one or two of its festivals. Some of the most important festivals and events of Maui include Kapalua Wine & Food Symposium, the fun Taste of Lahaina, Maui Onion Festival, Maui Pineapple Festival and Upcountry Fair in Makawao, Annual Hula festivals, Lei making competitions, Island craft shows, Maui Film Festival, Maui International Music Festival and LifeFest Maui. Apart from these there are also special festivals organised during the whale visiting season to create an awareness about the humpbackwhales of Maui. Both international as well as domestic flights reach Maui Kahului Airport. You can also reach Maui by flying to Honolulu first and then travelling to Maui by an interstate carrier. |
