14 Nights/15 DaysDestinations Covered: Colombo - Anuradhapura - Dabulla - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Thanamalwila - Galle - Colombo Tour Id: HV-017 Day 01 : Arrive Colombo On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality; Representative from A2B Travel Agents Ltd T/A Great Vacations will welcome and escort you to your transport for transfer to Colombo (30km 45mts to 1hr). Check-in at the hotel & relax. Overnight at Hotel. Day 02 : Colombo After a relaxed breakfast we proceed for our city tour of Colombo the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. The city tour will include the busy bazaar, churches, temples and kovils in and around the city. Independence Square and the BMICH complex are also interesting stops on this tour. Return to the Hotel. Afternoon relax. Overnight in Colombo.(B) Day 03 : To Anuradhapura Via Kegalle After breakfast proceed to Anuradhapura, located in the north central part of the island, Anuradhapura City Founded in the 3rd century BC this city is venerated as the Capital City of Buddhism. Even today, the ruins of this amazing city leave visitors with a sense of awe and amazement. Proceed to Anuradhapura visiting Via the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage in Kegalle.The best times to visit to this Orphanage is the bathing times and the feeding time. Overnight at Anuradapura.(B) Day 04 : Anuradhapura After breakfast start Anuradhapura city tour, which was the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka. It is the home of two world heritage sites interspersed with many places of historical and archaeological interest. This includes the sacred Bo tree where Buddha attained enlightenment. It is over 2,200 years old and is the oldest historically documented tree in the world. Also see Brazen Palace a magnificent 2nd century residence for monks, Ruwanweliseya , the most famous of all dagobas, the Isurumuniya rock temple, well known for its carving of "the lovers',' and the Thuparama clagoba, the oldest on the island which enshrines a relic of the Buddha. Overnight at Anuradhapura.(B) Day 05 : To Dabulla via Polonnaruwa After breakfast proceed to the Islands Medieval Capital Polonnaruwa. The ruins of the King's Council Chamber, the Royal Citadel, the Kumara Pokuna (Pond), Royal Pavilion, Siva Devale (11th century Hindu Temple), the Thuparama with its original vaulted roof, the Vatadage Relic House - lavished with moonstones, guardstones and scultpured railing, the Kiri Vehera - best preserved of all Sri Lanka's un-restored dagabas can all be seen here A must see are impressive sculptures carved on the face of a granite boulder. These are colossal Buddha images. The recumbent Buddha measures 14 meters and the standing figure is 7 meters in height return to hotel, relax overlooking an ancient irrigation tank before getting set for the evenings dinner. 06 : To Kandy Via SigiriyaAfter early breakfast proceed to the World Heritage Site of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress This amazing feat of architecture is often referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World and features the ruins of a palace and monastic complex set among landscaped water gardens. Climb to the top of the 600ft edifice for a magnificent view of the surrounding jungle and the distant hills. After climbing Sigiriya visit the historic Dambulla Cave Temple, this temple was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC and is the site for a complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceilings which contains over 150 images of the Buddha. Proceed to Kandy en-route stop at a spice garden in Mathele for a close up view of the role that herbs and spices. After proceed to Kandy for overnight stay, check in at hotel and after experience a colorful cultural show where you can really taste the Sri Lankan culture. Return to hotel and relax. Overnight in Kandy.(B) Day 07 : Kandy After breakfast we proceed for the city tour of Kandy - Visiting the temple of holy tooth, Royal Botanical garden Gem museum, Arts & Craft centres, also a drive around the Kandy lake. Evening experience a cultural dance show. Overnight at Hotel.(B) Day 08 : To Nuwara Eliya After breakfast proceed for a city tour of the bustling city Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Holy Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, Royal Botanical Garden, the Gem Museum, and traditional batik-making factory. A stroll in the market place would also be interesting. After proceed to Nuwara Eliya.Drive through the grand tea gardens of Sri Lanka. Stop in Ramboda for a berth of fresh air that comes with the scent of Eucalyptus and Cyprus tress. Continue on to the salubrious climate of Nuwara Eliya. Along the way you can enjoy the spectacular scenery and waterfalls. Stop at a tea factory and see the process that made Ceylon Tea famous the world over. Reach Nuwara Eliya via winding roads and a range of mountains kissed by the misty clouds. Check in at hotel and relax. Evening embark on a sight seeing tour of Nuwara Eliya. Drive around Lake Gregory, the old racecourse, playing ground and entertainment arena for aristocratic planter families. Nuwara Eliya gives you the feel of being in a colonial style village and is nicknamed Little England, due to its extensive British architecture. Return to hotel relax in the hotel or enjoy walking through the lash green avenues of verdant trees. Overnight at Nuwara Eliya.(B) Day 09 : Nuwara Eliya After breakfast visit the Horton Plains at around 7000 mts above sea level. Enjoy the view of the Worlds End . Rest Of the day is at leisure. Overnight at Nuwara Eliya. (B ) Day 10 : To Thanamalwila Via Ella Wellawaya After breakfast proceed to TASK Camp at Thanamalwilla via Ella Wellawaya visiting beautiful water falls & scenic surroundings. Enroute stop at Uda Wlalawe National Park for a safari by Jeeps. You could visit elephants, Deers, Samburs, wild buffaloes and many more other animals. Safari will take about 3½ hrs, after experiencing wildlife of Sri Lanka, proceed to Task Camp Spend an unusual night at the camp where you are given the highest security though it is located in the middle of the Jungle by the river. Experience a quiet evening where you would only here the noises of the creatures. Enjoy the Barbeque dinner by the river , Campfire (This depending on number of clients) and feel the cosines of rustic hut with a Cajan roof. If lucky Camp master would take you to spot Elephants crossing the River. Overnight at Hotel.(B D) Day 11 : To Galle Via Hambantota After breakfast proceed to Galle. En route visit Hambantota salt pans, Stilt fishing in Weligama Etc. Evening relax Overnight On the Beach Hotel.(B) Day
12 : Galle On The BeachDay is at leisure. Overnight On the Beach Hotel. (B) Day 13 : Galle On The Beach Day is at leisure. Overnight On the Beach Hotel. (B) Day 14 : To Colombo Transfer to Colombo. The rest of the Day is for catching up with last minute shopping or relaxing. Overnight at Hotel. (B) Day 15 : Leave Colombo Departure to the Airport for flight back home. |
