This is the only existing temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. Built in the 14th century, it stands on a high plinth with marble steps leading up to it. A red spire marks the temple, and over the entrance gateway is the Hans (goose), the symbol of Brahma who is said to have personally chosen Pushkar as his place. A silver turtle is set on the floor facing the sanctum-sanctorum or garbha-griha. Around the turtle, the marble floor is inset with hundreds of silver coins. The sanctuary has silver doors inside a carved marble gateway. Another temple mentionworthy is of Savitri (consort of Lord Brahma) on a hilltop. One has to trek to reach the temple, but it has a beautiful view of Pushkar Lake at dawn. Apteshwar Mahadeo Temple, a 12th century temple, is devoted to Lord Shiva.The Warrah temple holds an idol of Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of a wild boar. Innumerable ghats run down the lake in Pushkar. To bathe on these ghats is always with religious undertone. Honeymooners can also be a part of the Pushkar fair-One of the most popular and charismatic fairs of the desert . The time of the fair corresponds to the western month of October/November. Turbaned heads, the colorful veils and skirts of the women bring alive the arid desert. The village women are dressed in their best clothes and finery for the five-day fair. The long string of stalls all along the main market are famous for embroidered fabrics and shoes, colourful beads and bangles, brass utensils, belts studded with brass, cloth covers for cammels with mirror work colourful saddles and leather goods beautiful wall hanging and shoulder bags. The prime places for shopping here are home circus, Bazar, Sarafa bazar, Malakhera Bazar. Be ready for bargaining while shopping in Pushkar. Choicest of vegetarian cuisines are available. Non vegetarian food and alchohol is not allowed here. Air Nearest airport to Jaipur, 131 km away. From there you can get buses or taxi for Pushkar. Rail Nearest railway station is Ajmer, located at a distance of 11 km from Pushkar. Ajmer is well linked with major places in Rajasthan. Road Pushkar has two bus stops which operate buses for Delhi, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur and Udaipur.
