Eiffel Tower
Almost 6million people visit Eiffel Tower every year. The Tower, created by
Gustave Eiffel, is today the symbol of not only Paris but whole France.
People recognise Eiffel Tower in all parts of the world. The Eiffel Tower
was constructed for the International Paris Exhibition of 1889 to
commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution.
Louvre Museum
Louvre Museum is the largest and most visited museum in the world.
It is a former residence of French monarchs. Fine specimen of conventional
French architecture since Renaissance, it houses large collection of ancient
and Western art pieces. Today Louvre Museum houses Oriental (ancient
Mesopotamian) antiquities, Egyptian antiquities, Greek and Roman
antiquities; sculpture from the Middle Ages to modern times, furniture and
objets d'art; and paintings related to all the European schools. A museum
section is devoted to Islamic art.
Palace
of Versailles
One of the world's grandest historical monuments, Palace of Versailles is a
superb Baroque structure. In 1624, Louis XIII, the French monarch, commenced
the building of a hunting lodge in the small hamlet of Versailles. Louis XIV
transormed it into a great chateau, as we know it today.
Arc de Triomphe
Arc de Triomphe stands guard over the memories of an unknown soldier from
World War I, and an everlasting flame keeps burning under it. Napoleon
intended to make the Arc a symbol of his victories, but Battle of Waterloo
shattered his dream.
Siene River Boating
Enjoy boating in the Siene river. It can be bet that the boating would be
unforgettable. A singer and a musician would also be on board providing
classic songs which would be evocative of Paris museums and palaces.
Paris by Night
Lido and Moulin Rouge shows have made nightlife of Paris different. Savour

Getting
Around
The easiest and fastest way to tour Paris is Metro (subway) which operates
daily from 5:30am-12:30am. You can get transportation maps at subway
stations. You can also buy Paris Viste ticket which is valid for 1-5 days.
Buses run everyday from 6:30am-8:30pm. A special tourist bus runs on Sundays
and holidays from April-September, visiting the main tourist sites. One can
get taxis from the street or from one of the stands around the city. An
illuminated light on the roof signals that the cab is available.
Shopping
In the world of luxury and fashion items Paris is one of the top cities in
the world. Shoppers in Paris don't forget to shop for perfumes, cosmetics
and fashion design world brands. For rare furniture or items like antiques,
art paintings and jewelry, you must look in Flea Markets or auction sales.
Flea markets are among the most famous markets in the French capital and are
located at the ancient gates of the city.
Entertainment
Paris Disneyland is an absorbing place filled with fantasy and make-believe
characters. You can enjoy yourself in five imaginary lands. Disneyland is a
place which endears itself to both young and old. Visit Disneyland and have
loads of fun and adventure.
You can enjoy drinking in bars which are usually open till 1am. Minimum
legal age for consuming alcohol is usually 16 years, while for hard drinks,
it is 18 years.
Wide variety of events are held in Paris and you can enjoy them. You can
enjoy Fête de la Musique (June), du Film de Paris (early April) and
the biennial Festival d'Automne (September-December). Free concerts are held
within the church compounds, during the Festival d'Art Sacré in the
weeks preceeding Chistmas. You can find timings of classical concerts in
monthly Le Monde de la Musique.
Live jazz can be enjoyed in plenty of places in Paris. Few of these are Le
Bilboquet, La Flèche d'Or Café and Chesterfield Café.
Place for major rock concerts is at the Palais des Congrès. Clubs
abound in Paris and techno, house, garage and latino are the popular sounds.
Clubs commence serving their guest at about 23:00 and not close until dawn.
