Capital
Colombo, tourism and commercial hub of Sri Lanka, has so many lovely beaches

nights colorful. Places to go while in Colombo include the fort,
Viharamahadevi Park, Dehiwala Zoo, Galle Face Green, temples, mosques,
churches and Colombo national museum. Pettah is the shopping hub of Colombo.
Viharamahadevi is the oldest and largest park in Colombo.
Kandy
Hosting number of monuments, Kandy is the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. The
town is well known for its natural beauty, pleasant climate, cultural values
and historical significance. You can visit places like Dalada Maligawa,
Natha Devale, Maha Vishnu Devale, Hindalgara Vihara, Gangarama Vihara,
Lankatilaka Vihara, Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya and the Lake. Esala
Perahera is a famous festival of Kandy. The pageant of elephants and lights
takes place in August every year.
Galle
Galle showcases blending of European architectural styles and South Asian
traditions. While in the town, you can visit the Dutch fort, churches and
other quaint structures, Dutch Museum and National Maritime Museum.
Unawatuna beach, located 5km from the town, is a pretty good place for
picnic. Good network of roads and trains connect Galle from other parts of
the country. The city was founded in 16th century by the Portuguese.
Kurunegala
Kurunegala is based on the banks of a lake. Colossal rock outcroppings that
ring the town add to its beauty.Many of these rocks have been christened on
the animals they resemble: elephant rock, tortoise rock. Splendid views of
the lake can be seen from top of the rocks. You can also visit the Tooth
relic temple. However it is in dilapidated state. Only a few stone steps and
a part of the doorway can be seen there.
Nuwara Eliya
Named Little England, Nuwara Eliya was the home of the British planters
during the age of the empire. Here you can watch British architecture and
plantation bungalows.
Sigriya
Sigriya brings forth the ancient architectural traditions of India. It is a
very well planned city with very good combination of buildings, gardens,
pathways and water gardens. A must-visit while in Sigiriya are the Rock.
Famous gardens of Sigiriya are Water Garden, Terrace Garden, Palace Garden,
and Boudler Garden. You can also visit the wildlife sanctuary around the
famous Rock. Water Park consists water pavilions, pools, cisterns,
courtyards, conduits and water courses which hold the fascination of the
tourists.
